Cities have long been shaped by the privileged, neglecting those most affected; how can we remedy this and reclaim our cities? This event, led by a student at our very own Knowlton School of Architecture, explored how empowering communities to take partaa in shaping their urban environments can lead to more equitable, inclusive, and people-centered cities.
Luka J. Bastin Howes is a City and Regional Planning student at The Ohio State University. With experience as a community organizer in Columbus, Luka has seen firsthand how decisions made by a small group of experts can impact entire neighborhoods. His work focuses on exploring and pushing for more inclusive and community-driven planning. Luka’s talk dives into these ideas, looking at how technocratic decision-making has shaped our cities and what we can do to rethink it.
