Welcome everyone; today we have some exciting news! Our second salon event of the year, Resilient, is this Thursday! Resilient is an event brought to you by the Outreach Committee in collaboration with the Columbus Care Coalition. Our Outreach Committee has been working closely with the Columbus Care Coalition to generate meaningful engagement with the community outside of Ohio State’s Campus.
The Columbus Care Coalition started their work as an organization to provide individualized social work to communities that need it the most. Today, Columbus Care Coalition has grown to help underprivileged and underserved communities rebuild after trauma. The organization is vetted around the healing capabilities of discussion, and how generating productive conversation about trauma allows communities to navigate through experiences in a healthy manner.
Columbus Care is a vital organization for the Columbus community, and TEDxOhioStateUniversitySalon is giving members of the organization a platform to discuss the dimensions of trauma that occurs after a traumatic event plagues a community. TEDxOhioStateUniversitySalon: Resilient will showcase three members of the Columbus Care Coalition who will each provide their own experience with helping communities rebuild after traumatic incidents.
Alongside three speakers, Resilient will showcase four mental health clubs from Ohio State! This will be a great way for you to engage with a variety of student organizations who care about mental health, and you can learn how to benefit from the resources available. You can even learn how to get involved with these organizations.
The overall structure of the event is that there will be speakers, a networking intermission, and a final speaker. The intermission will allow audience members to initiate discussions with the speakers and explore deeper into the topics discussed in their talks. This is the perfect time for you to network with members of organizations whose work is rooted in the healing of the Columbus community.
The event will be held in the Nosker Burgee Room 100. The date/time of the event is Thursday, November 7th at 6:30pm. There will be refreshments and snacks provided at the event, so come spend a Thursday evening with TEDxOhioStateUniversitySalon with refreshments and relevant discussions regarding trauma.
